Durban is the 3rd largest city in South Africa, behind Johannesburg and Cape Town. Durban is located in the region of KwaZulu-Natal on the east coast of South Africa. Durban is home to the busiest port in South Africa as well as an absolutely stunning skyline. If you’re looking to spend your holidays on a beach where you can watch the sunset every day, Durban would make an excellent vacation spot for you.

There are lots of fun activities to do in the city including but not limited to: surfing, diving, skydiving, meditation, hiking, golfing, and gambling. Durban is also home to numerous festivals: Durban International Film Festival, Jomba Contemporary Dance Festival, MTN Durban Fashion Week, Awesome Africa (music festival), Poetry Africa, etc.

Like Cape Town, Durban was also a British colony during much of the 19th century. It wasn’t until 1935 when Durban was granted its city status. Today, Durban is a major economic force in South Africa as well as a popular tourist destination, primarily due to its pristine beaches and historical sites.

Th Golden Mile is the one place in Durban that is definitely a must-see for tourist. Home to numerous seafood restaurants, boats, and aquariums, it is quite reminiscent of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town.
